Wham – The Artist/s
Wham were an English musical duo formed by school friends George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley in 1981. After three successful albums Wham became one of the most successful pop acts of the 1980s. They made a highly publicised 10-day visit to China, the first by a Western pop group and sold more than 30 million certified records worldwide from 1982 to 1986. George Michael was keen to create music targeted at a more sophisticated adult market rather than the duo’s primarily teenage audience, and therefore split to continue working as a solo artist.
Where Did Your Heart Go – The Song
Where Did Your Heart Go is a cover by British pop duo Wham! in 1986 as one of the three B-sides to “The Edge of Heaven”, which reached number one in the UK. It was produced and re-arranged by George Michael with engineering by Chris Porter. “Where Did Your Heart Go?” was also included on the compilation albums The Final and Music from the Edge of Heaven. George Michael’s arrangement of “Where Did Your Heart Go?” is relatively faithful to the Was (Not Was) version making only subtle changes to the song’s instrumentation and structure. “Where Did Your Heart Go?” Was originally written by American musicians David Was and Don Was. The song was recorded and released by the writers’ band Was (Not Was) as a single in the UK as a double A-side with “Wheel Me Out” in September 1981. The single did not chart.
The Heart – The Shape
This record has been crafted into the silhouette of a heart. The heart shape and its meaning has evolved over hundreds of years. Nowadays it means love but before the 13th and 14th centuries it was generally drawn for decorative purposes. People at that time thought of our hearts as books of memory and believed feelings for the beloved were somehow written on your heart.
