Walk like an Egyptian – Bangles (1985)

An individual, limited edition, example of vinyl record art made from a genuine, original, 45rpm, 7” single featuring the song, Walk like an Egyptian by the American band, the Bangles,  from 1985. The record was released on the CBS record label, in the UK, and has been reworked into the shape of an Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh.

Walk Like an Egyptian was released in 1985 as the third single from the Bangles album Different Light. It was a million-selling single. Music producer Liam Sternberg wrote the song after seeing people on a ferry walking awkwardly to keep their balance. Their poses reminded him of figures in some Ancient Egyptian paintings and reliefs. Lene Lovich recorded the first version of the song, but it went unreleased when Lovich decided to take a break from music to raise her family.
