The record was released in 1962, on the MGM record label and has been reworked into the silhouette of  a vintage leather Doctors bag as used by doctors for home visits in the 60s.

Richard Chamberlain – The Artist

George Richard Chamberlain (1934 – 2025) was an American actor and singer who became a teen idol in the title role of the television show Dr. Kildare (1961–1966). He subsequently earned the title “King of the Mini-Series” for his work in several TV miniseries such as Centennial (1978), Shōgun (1980), and The Thorn Birds (1983). Chamberlain also performed classical stage roles and worked in musical theatre.

 

Theme From Dr. Kildare – The Song

Theme From Dr. Kildare (Also known as Theme From Dr. Kildare ( Three Stars Will Shine Tonight) is a song written by Jerry Goldsmith and Pete Rugolo with lyrics by Hal Winn. The song was the theme for the television series Dr. Kildare. The series’ lead actor, Richard Chamberlain, released it in 1962 as a single in his first venture into a singing career.

The Vintage Doctors Bag – The Shape

This record is modelled into the silhouette of vintage leather Doctors bag that was often used when doing house calls. The bag is similar to the bag used in Dr.Kildare. Dr. Kildare is an NBC medical drama television series which originally ran from September 28, 1961, until August 30, 1966, for a total of 191 episodes over five seasons. Produced by MGM Television, it was based on fictional doctor characters originally created by author Max Brand in the 1930s and previously used by MGM in a popular film series and radio drama. The TV series quickly achieved success and made a star of Richard Chamberlain, who played the title role. Dr. Kildare (along with an ABC medical drama, Ben Casey, which premiered at the same time) inspired or influenced many later TV shows dealing with the medical field.
