Ben E King – The Artist
Benjamin Earl King, known as Ben E. King, was an American soul and R&B singer and record producer. Ben E King started his music career as a member of the Doo-wop group the drifters. He was perhaps best known as the singer and co-composer of Stand by Me—a US Top 10 hit, both in 1961 and later in 1986 (when it was used as the theme to the film of the same name).
Stand By Me – The Song
Stand By Me is a song written by Ben E King, Jerry Leiber, and Mike Stoller. According to King, the title is derived from, and was inspired by, a spiritual written by Sam Cooke and J. W. Alexander called “Stand by Me Father,” recorded by the Soul Stirrers with Johnnie Taylor singing lead. The third line of the second verse of the former work derives from Psalm 46:2c/3c.

Stand by Me is a 1986 American coming-of-age comedy-drama film directed by Rob Reiner and starring Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, and Jerry O’Connell. The film, whose plot is based on Stephen King’s novel The Body (1982) and title is derived from Ben E. King’s eponymous song, which plays over the ending credits, tells the story of four boys in a small town in Oregon who go on a hike to find the dead body of a missing child.
