Santana – The Artist/s

Santana is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1966 by Mexican-American guitarist and songwriter Carlos Santana. The band has undergone multiple recording and performing line-ups in its history, with Carlos the only consistent member. The Band had early success with their appearance at Woodstock in 1969 and their first three albums, Santana (1969),  Abraxas (1970), and Santana III (1971). Other important core members during this period include Gregg Rolie, Mike Carabello, Michael Shrieve, David Brown, and José “Chepito” Areas, forming the “classic” line-up. Santana is one of the best-selling groups of all time with 43.5 million certified albums sold the US, and an estimated 100 million sold worldwide.

She’s Not There – The Song

‘She’s Not There’ is the debut single by British rock band The Zombies, written by organist Rod Argent. It reached No. 12 in the UK Singles Chart in September 1964. Rod Argent built the lyrics of “She’s Not There” from a John Lee Hooker song, whose title – “No One Told Me” – became a part of the opening phrase of “She’s Not There”. The song tells of the narrator who has unsatisfactory dealings with an untrustworthy woman. He reproaches unspecified associates for failing to warn him of her unsavoury character. The real inspiration behind the song, however, was Argent’s first love, Patricia, who called off their wedding weeks before and broke his heart. This is the Santana cover version which was also a hit when it appeared on their 1977 album Moonflower.
