Duran Duran – The Artist
Duran Duran are an English new wave and synthpop band formed in Birmingham in 1978. The band grew from alternative sensations in 1982 to mainstream pop stars by 1984. The group was formed by keyboardist Nick Rhodes and bass guitarist John Taylor, with the later addition of drummer Roger Taylor, and after numerous personnel changes, guitarist Andy Taylor and lead singer Simon Le Bon. These five members featured the most commercially successful line-up. The band achieved 14 singles in the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart and 21 in the Billboard Hot 100, and have sold over 100 million records worldwide.
Save a Prayer – The Song
Save a Prayer is the sixth single by the English pop / synth / new wave band Duran Duran, released in 1982. The song was the third single taken from their second album Rio (1982). It became Duran Duran’s biggest hit (at the time) in the UK Singles Chart, reaching number two, held out of the top spot by Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger”.
Praying – The Shape
This record has been modelled int the silhouette of a young girl with her hands raised in prayer. Prayer is an invocation or act that seeks to activate a rapport with an object of worship, typically a deity, through deliberate communication. In the narrow sense, the term refers to an act of supplication or intercession directed towards a deity, or a deified ancestor. More generally, prayer can also have the purpose of thanksgiving or praise, and in comparative religion is closely associated with more abstract forms of meditation and with charms or spells
