Additional information about this Ike & Tina Turner vinyl art.

Ike & Tina Turner – The Artist

Ike (1931 – 2007) & Tina Turner (1939 – 2023) were an American musical duo consisting of husband and wife Ike Turner and Tina Turner. From 1960 to 1976, they performed live as the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, supported by Ike Turner’s band, the Kings of Rhythm, and backing vocalists, the Ikettes. The Ike & Tina Turner Revue was regarded as “one of the most potent live acts on the R&B circuit.”
The duo had a string of R&B hits with their early recordings “A Fool In Love”, “It’s Gonna Work Out Fine”, “I Idolize You”, “Poor Fool”, and “Tra La La La La”. The release of “River Deep – Mountain High” in 1966, followed by a tour of the UK with The Rolling Stones, increased their popularity in Europe. Their later works are noted for interpretive soul-infused re-arrangements of rock songs such as “Come Together”, “Honky Tonk Woman”, and “Proud Mary”. They released dozens of albums; their most successful by chart performance being Workin’ Together. Pitchfork listed their album River Deep – Mountain High among the best of its era. In spite of their success, they had a tumultuous marriage and the duo split in 1976. Following their divorce, Tina went on to enjoy a highly successful solo career.

River Deep – Mountain High) – The Song

“River Deep – Mountain High” is a song by Ike & Tina Turner released on Philles Records as the title track to their 1966 studio album. Produced by Phil Spector and written by Spector, Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich. The single was a great success in Europe but did not perform well upon its original release in the US. Spector claimed to be pleased with the response from the critics and his peers, but he then withdrew from the music industry for two years, beginning his personal decline. After a revival of the song from covers by Eric Burdon and the Animals and Deep Purple in 1968, the original version was reissued by A&M Records in 1969. It has since been covered by many artists and is considered by many to be one of the best songs of all time.

The Mountain Goat – The Shape

This record has been modelled into a Mountain Goat. The mountain goat, also known as the Rocky Mountain goat, is a cloven-footed mammal that is endemic to the remote and rugged mountainous areas of western North America. A subalpine to truly alpine species, it is a sure-footed climber commonly seen on sheer rock faces, near-vertical cliffs and icy passages. Mountain goats generally avoid venturing down into lower elevations—except during seasonal food shortages or during particularly bad weather—as the extreme elevation which they inhabit is their primary defense against predators such as black and brown bears, pumas and wolves.
