Wilson Pickett – The Artist
Wilson Pickett (1941 – 2006) was an American singer and songwriter. A major figure in the development of American soul music, Pickett recorded over 50 songs which made the charts, Among his best-known hits are “In the Midnight Hour”, “Land of 1,000 Dances”, “Mustang Sally”, and “Funky Broadway”.
Mustang Sally – The Song
Mustang Sally is a rhythm and blues (R&B) song written and first recorded by Mack Rice in 1965. The song gained popularity when Wilson Pickett covered it the following year on a single, a version that was also released on his 1966 album, The Wicked Pickett. The song featured prominently in the 1991 film The Commitments and appears on the film’s soundtrack album, sung by Andrew Strong.
