Bread – The Artist
Bread was an American soft rock band from Los Angeles, California. They had 13 songs chart between 1970 and 1977. The band was fronted by David Gates (vocals, bass guitar, guitar, keyboards, violin, viola, percussion), with Jimmy Griffin (vocals, guitar, keyboards, percussion) and Robb Royer (bass guitar, guitar, flute, keyboards, percussion, recorder, backing vocals). On their first album session musicians Ron Edgar played drums and Jim Gordon played drums, percussion, and piano. Mike Botts became their permanent drummer when he joined in the summer of 1969, and Larry Knechtel replaced Royer in 1971, playing keyboards, bass guitar, guitar, and harmonica.
Make It With You – The Song
‘Make It with You’ is a song written by David Gates and originally recorded by the pop-rock group Bread, of which Gates was a member. Gates and drummer Mike Botts are the only members of the group to appear on the recording which was their most popular hit. The song first appeared on Bread’s 1970 album, On the Waters. Released as a single that June, it was the group’s first top-ten hit in the UK Singles Chart and the US Billboard chart. It has since been covered by many artists including Cilla Black, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield and The Pasadenas.
The Lego Brick – The Shape
This vinyl single has been reworked into the silhouette of a square lego brick. Lego is a line of plastic construction toys that are manufactured by The Lego Group, a privately held company based in Billund, Denmark. As of 2021, the Lego was the largest toy company in the world. The company’s flagship product, Lego, consists of variously coloured interlocking plastic bricks accompanying an array of gears, figurines called mini-figures, and various other parts. Lego pieces can be assembled and connected in many ways to construct objects, including vehicles, buildings, and working robots. Anything constructed can be taken apart again, and the pieces reused to make new things
