It’s a Sin – The Song
‘It’s a Sin’ is written by Neil Tenant and Chris Lowe of the Pet Shop Boys and was the first single from their album Actually and one of their most popular songs. Lyrically it accuses the church and / or God of making sins out of too many things. Apart from being a big hit internationally, some religious leaders actually praised it for raising and seriously discussing the subject of sin, rarely noted in popular culture. In the coda, we can hear Tennant reciting a part of the Confiteor in Latin, which translated into English is “I confess to almighty God, and to you, my brothers, that I have sinned exceedingly in thought, word, act and omission, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault”.
The Devil – The Shape
