Elvis Presley – The Artist
Elvis Presley was an American singer and actor. Regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as the “King of Rock and Roll” or simply “the King”. With a series of successful network television appearances and chart-topping records, he became the leading figure of the newly popular sound of rock and roll. His energised interpretations of songs and sexually provocative performance style, combined with a singularly potent mix of influences across colour lines during a transformative era in race relations, made him enormously popular—and controversial. Presley is one of the most celebrated and influential musicians of the 20th century. Commercially successful in many genres, including pop, country, blues, and gospel, he is the best-selling solo artist in the history of recorded music.
If I can Dream -The Song
‘If I Can Dream’ is a song made famous by Elvis Presley, written by Walter Earl Brown for the singer and notable for its similarities with Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1963 “I Have a Dream” speech. The song was published by Elvis Presley’s music publishing company Gladys Music. It was recorded by Presley in June 1968, just two months after King’s assassination. The recording was first released to the public as the finale of Presley’s ’68 Comeback Special.
Elvis Presley – The Shape
Modelled into the singing, crouched Elvis Presley wearing an example of his famous Las Vegas stage-wear. He originally wore these decorated, style-defining jumpsuits for functionality so he could comfortably sing and dance while performing live at his shows. Apparently Elvis Presley was a black belt in karate, and wanted to incorporate karate moves into his performance and the jumpsuit made this possible. His most famous jumpsuit was the ‘Concho Jumpsuit’, which was an early example of Elvis’ legendary Las Vegas stage-wear.
A dream is a succession of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that usually occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. Humans spend about two hours dreaming per night, and each dream lasts around 5 to 20 minutes, although the dreamer may perceive the dream as being much longer than this.
