Additional information about this, Oliver vinyl art.

Oliver – The Artist

William Oliver Swofford (1945 – 2000), known professionally as Oliver, was an American pop singer, best known for his 1969 song “Good Morning Starshine” from the musical Hair as well as “Jean” (the theme from the film The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie).

Good Morning Starshine – The Song

‘Good Morning Starshine’ is a pop song from the musical Hair (1967). It was performed by Oliver and written by Radio, Ragni and Mac Dermont. It was a popular hit in both the Uk and the US in 1969. The chorus makes extensive use of apparent nonsense words: “Glibby gloop gloopy, Nibby Nabby Noopy, La La La Lo Lo. Sabba Sibby Sabba, Nooby abba Nabba Le Le Lo Lo. Tooby ooby walla, nooby abba nabba, Early mornin’ singin’ song.” “Good Morning Starshine” is a song from the second act of the musical Hair (1967). It is performed by the character Sheila, played off-Broadway in 1967 by Jill O’Hara, and by Lynn Kellogg in the original 1968 Broadway production. In the 1979 film version of the musical, Sheila is portrayed by Beverly D’Angelo.

The Bearded Hippy – The Shape

This record has been modelled into a male hippy.  A hippy is someone associated with the counterculture of the 1960s, originally a youth movement that began in the United States during or around 1964 and spread to different countries around the world. The word hippie came from hipster and was used to describe beatniks who moved into New York City’s Greenwich Village, San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district, and Chicago’s Old Town community. The term hippie was used in print by San Francisco writer Michael Fallon, helping popularise use of the term in the media, although the tag was seen elsewhere earlier.

Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical is a rock musical with a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot. The work reflects the creators’ observations of the hippie counterculture and sexual revolution of the late 1960s, and several of its songs became anthems of the anti-Vietnam War peace movement. The musical’s profanity, its depiction of the use of illegal drugs, its treatment of sexuality, its irreverence for the American flag, and its nude scene caused much comment and controversy. The work broke new ground in musical theatre by defining the genre of “rock musical”, using a racially integrated cast, and inviting the audience onstage for a “Be-In” finale. Hair tells the story of the “tribe”, a group of politically active, long-haired hippies of the “Age of Aquarius” living a bohemian life in New York City and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War.
