Shirley Bassey – The Artist
Dame Shirley Veronica Bassey, DBE (Born 1937) is a Welsh singer whose career began in the mid-1950s, and is well known both for her powerful voice and for recording the theme songs to the James Bond films Goldfinger (1964), Diamonds Are Forever (1971), and Moonraker (1979). In 2000, Bassey was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) for services to the performing arts. In 1977 she received the Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist in the previous 25 years. Shirley Bassey is considered one of the most popular female vocalists in Britain during the second half of the 20th century.
Goldfinger – The Song
“Goldfinger” is the theme song for the film of the same name. John Barry created the melody for the song before drafting the lyrics with the help of Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse. Shirley Bassey was chosen to sing the track as she had great dramatic sense.

Goldfinger is a 1964 spy film and the third instalment in the James Bond series produced by Eon Productions, starring Sean Connery as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. It is based on the novel of the same name by Ian Fleming. The film also stars Honor Blackman as Bond girl Pussy Galore and Gert Fröbe as the title character Auric Goldfinger, along with Shirley Eaton as the iconic Bond girl Jill Masterson. The film’s plot has Bond investigating gold smuggling by gold magnate Auric Goldfinger and eventually uncovering Goldfinger’s plans to contaminate the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox.
