Additional information about this, The Power Station vinyl art.

The Power Station – The Artist/s

The Power Station were a British-American 1980s/1990s rock and pop music supergroup originally formed in New York City and London in 1984. It was made up of singer Robert Palmer, former Chic drummer Tony Thompson, and Duran Duran members John Taylor (bass) and Andy Taylor (guitar). Bernard Edwards, also of Chic, was involved on the studio side as recording producer and for a short time also functioned as the bands manager. Edwards also replaced John Taylor on bass for the recording of the band’s second album. The band was formed in New York City late in 1984 during a break in Duran Duran’s schedule that became a lengthy hiatus. The band was named after the Power Station recording studio in New York, where their first album was conceived and recorded.

Get it on – The Song

Get it on is a song originally by the English rock band T. Rex, featured on their 1971 album Electric Warrior. Written by frontman Marc Bolan, “Get It On” was the second chart-topper for T. Rex on the UK Singles Chart. This is the cover version by the Power Station from 1985. Their version was released as their second single from their debut album. The track was popular in both the UK and the US The band was originally going have a different guest vocalist on each song on their album and had brought in Robert Palmer first to sing a different song. When Palmer heard that the band had recorded a demo of “Get It On”, he asked to try out vocals for it also. Afterward, the band then decided to record the entire album with Palmer. This single, along with “Some Like It Hot”, became the Power Station’s signature songs.

The Power Station Recording Studio Logo – The Shape

This record has been crafted into a image very similar to the logo of the recording studio Power Station where the band got its name. Power Station at Berklee NYC is a recording studio on 441 West 53rd Street in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of Midtown Manhattan in New York City. It was originally founded in 1977 as Power Station and known as Avatar Studios from 1996 to 2017. Renowned for its exceptional acoustics, the studio has been the site of hundreds of Award-winning recordings.

A power station, also referred to as a power plant and sometimes generating station or generating plant, is an industrial facility for the generation of electric power. Power stations are generally connected to an electrical grid. Many power stations contain one or more generators, rotating machine that converts mechanical power into three-phase electric power. The relative motion between a magnetic field and a conductor creates an electric current. The energy source harnessed to turn the generator varies widely. Most power stations in the world burn fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas to generate electricity. Low-carbon power sources include nuclear power, and use of renewables such as solar, wind, geothermal, and hydroelectric.
