Andy Williams – The Artist
Andy Williams (1927 – 2012) is an American Singer and TV host. He hosted the Andy Williams Show from 1962 to 1971, and numerous TV specials. He recorded 43 albums and sold more than 100 million records worldwide during his career. He is probably best known for his songs, Moon River and Can’t Take My Eyes Off You which has become a popular song played at weddings and at anniversaries.
Can’t Help Falling in Love – The Song
‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ sung by Andy Williams is his cover version of a 1961 song originally recorded by American singer Elvis Presley for the album Blue Hawaii. It was written by Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore, and George David Weiss . The melody is based on “Plaisir d’amour”, a popular French love song composed in 1784 by Jean-Paul-Égide Martini. The song was initially written for a woman as “Can’t Help Falling in Love with Him”, which explains the first and third line ending on “in” and “sin” rather than words rhyming with “you”.
The Heart – The Symbol
This record has been modelled into the silhouette of a loving heart. The heart shape and its meaning has evolved over hundreds of years. Nowadays it means love but before the 13th and 14th centuries it was generally drawn for decorative purposes. People at that time thought of our hearts as books of memory and believed feelings for the beloved were somehow written on your heart.
