‘Call Me’ is a 1985 song by the British band Go West, which reached no. 12 in the UK Charts and no. 54 in the US. It was written by Peter Cox and Richard Drummie of Go West. Lyrically the song tells the tale of the remorseful singer who wants to right a wrong with his girlfriend by asking her to ring him.
The Vintage Telephone – The Shape
This 7″ record has been modelled into a vintage telephone, of the style that was used at the time of the records release. It had a base unit with a rotary dial for dialling the numbers and a separate handset, connected by a wire, for listening and talking. A telephone is a telecommunications device that permits two or more users to conduct a conversation when they are too far apart to be heard directly. A telephone converts sound, typically and most efficiently the human voice, into electronic signals that are transmitted via cables and other communication channels to another telephone which reproduces the sound to the receiving user.
